How to sell a gift card for Bitcoin in Nigeria

Selling a gift card peer-to-peer means you give a card code to someone who wants it, and they pay you in Bitcoin. On Koinzaar the Bitcoin for the trade is locked in escrow before you send anything, and it only moves to you when the other side confirms the card works. This is how a trade runs and what to check.

Which board to use

You are the buyer of Bitcoin and you pay with a card. Open the “Buy Bitcoin with Amazon gift card” or “Buy Bitcoin with Steam wallet card” board, or start from the gift card page for your brand, and pick a seller whose rate, limits and card terms suit you.

Each offer states which cards the seller accepts: brand, e-code or physical card, the card’s currency and region, and the amounts. Read the terms before you open a trade. A card the terms do not cover is the most common reason a trade ends in a dispute.

What happens in a trade

  1. Create an account and verify your email.
  2. Open a trade on an offer. The seller’s Bitcoin for that trade moves into escrow at that moment, and you can see it is locked before you share anything.
  3. Send the card code, and a photo of the card or receipt if the offer asks for one, in the trade chat only. Then mark the trade paid.
  4. The seller checks and redeems the card, then releases. The Bitcoin moves from escrow to your Koinzaar balance.

A trade that runs out of time is cancelled and the Bitcoin goes back to the seller. Koinzaar never releases crypto because a timer ran out, so do not send a code after a trade has expired.

Fees

The seller pays a fee when the crypto is released: 0.5% for bank transfer and mobile money, 0.75% for e-wallets, 1% for cash and 3% for gift cards. Buyers pay no Koinzaar fee.

On a gift card trade the seller of the Bitcoin pays 3% when it is released. If you are trading a card for Bitcoin, you are the buyer and pay no Koinzaar fee. The rate on the offer is where the real price difference between sellers is.

Questions

What if the seller says the card does not work?

Either side can open a dispute while the Bitcoin is in escrow. A moderator reads the trade chat and the evidence, such as the card photo, the receipt and the redemption screen, then releases to you or returns the Bitcoin to the seller. Nobody can move it while the dispute is open.

What does it cost to trade a gift card for Bitcoin?

The seller of the Bitcoin pays 3% of the trade when it is released. The person paying with the gift card pays no Koinzaar fee.

Can I get naira instead of Bitcoin?

Koinzaar holds only the crypto side of a trade. Once Bitcoin is in your balance you can sell it to a buyer who pays naira by bank transfer, OPay or PalmPay on the “Sell Bitcoin in Nigeria” board.
